Stop paying $8+ per student for your reading program.
PageUp is a reading incentivization program — kids read real books, pass quick quizzes, and earn points toward rewards your school chooses. The friendly Accelerated Reader® alternative, for one flat fee of $1,000 per school per year.
Three steps. A reading habit that sticks.
Kids pick books they actually like.
248k+ titles. From "Dog Man" to "Wonder" to that one book about a sentient pencil.
They take a quick quiz to prove they read it.
5–15 questions depending on the length of the book — a mix of recall, comprehension, and vocabulary. Passing earns points sized to the book: longer, more complex books are worth more.
Points turn into rewards. Reading turns into a habit.
Streaks, badges, class challenges, grade-level rivalry. You set the passing score and the rewards — redemption days, ceremonies, treasure box, your call.
Your reading program, running itself.
Quizzes that fit the book.
Every quiz mixes recall, comprehension, and vocabulary — 5 to 15 questions depending on the length of the book. Pass, and the points land instantly, sized to the book: longer, more complex reads are worth more.
- 5–15 questions, scaled to the length of the book
- Recall, comprehension, and vocabulary
- Points match the book's length and complexity
Reports that actually make sense.
Quizzes grade themselves, and the roster reads like a seating chart — who read this week, who stalled. Need numbers? Pick the dates and columns and the report builds itself. No forty-report catalog to decipher.
- Auto-graded quizzes, points awarded instantly
- One roster view: who's reading, who's stalled
- Reports in three clicks — dates, columns, done
You're in charge of the bar.
PageUp runs the quizzes; you run the program. Set the passing score school-wide, decide how many retakes each student gets, and open quizzing only on the days and hours you choose.
- You set the passing score (70% is the default)
- You decide the retakes — one shot, one retake, your call
- Quizzing opens on your schedule: school days, school hours
Goals the kids can see.
Set a class challenge — Donut Friday at 500 points — or a school-wide goal like field day, and every dashboard shows the progress bar filling up.
- Class challenges and school-wide goals, side by side
- Live progress on every dashboard
- The rewards are yours: donuts, redemption day, field day
What would your school do with an extra $4,000+?
Per-student pricing is a tax on growth. Move the slider — your line item stops climbing the second you hit PageUp's flat rate.
Built for the people
who actually run the program.
Budget-friendly. Procurement-friendly.
Easier than AR. Every day.
We've got answers.
How much does PageUp cost?+
One flat $1,000 per school per year — every student, every teacher, every book and quiz included. No per-student fees, no add-on modules, and a 30-day money-back guarantee if it turns out not to be a fit.
How is PageUp so much cheaper than Accelerated Reader?+
Lean team, modern tooling. We pass the savings on instead of underwriting old enterprise overhead — and a flat price means your bill doesn’t grow when your enrollment does. See our full Accelerated Reader comparison at pageupreading.com/accelerated-reader-alternative.
How do the quizzes and points work?+
Every book's quiz mixes recall, comprehension, and vocabulary questions — 5 to 15 of them, depending on the length of the book. Passing earns points based on the book's length and complexity, so a chapter book is worth more than a picture book. Those points feed the goals and rewards your school sets up.
Who decides the passing score and retakes?+
You do. Your school sets the passing level and how many times a student can retake a quiz (most schools allow one retake). You also control the days and hours quizzing is open, so it happens when you want it to.
Will my students' favorite books be in the library?+
248,060 titles cover the vast majority of K-8 classroom and library reading. Missing a book? Students and teachers can request it right from their dashboard, and the quiz is typically ready within days.
What does setup look like?+
About an hour, not a semester. Add your teachers, import students from a spreadsheet (or type them in), print login slips, and kids can take their first quizzes the same day. A guided checklist walks your school leader through every step.
How do students sign in?+
Two options, chosen school-wide: a school email plus a 4-digit PIN (with printable login slips for the little ones), or your school’s Google Workspace accounts — one tap, no passwords to remember.
How does PageUp handle student privacy?+
We partner with schools as a school official under FERPA, aligned with COPPA, with role-based access controls and on-request data deletion. Student data is never sold or used for advertising.
Do you support homeschoolers or personal accounts?+
Not at this time. PageUp partners directly with schools — the FERPA school-official model is core to how we handle student data, so we don't currently offer individual, family, or homeschool accounts. If that changes, we'll announce it on this page.
