Switching from AR? Asked and answered.

Is PageUp a replacement for Accelerated Reader?+

Yes — PageUp covers the same core loop schools use AR for: students read a book, take a comprehension quiz on it, and earn points toward reading goals. Schools switching from AR keep their reading traditions (point goals, reward days, ceremonies) and swap the software underneath.

How much cheaper is PageUp than Accelerated Reader?+

PageUp is $1,000 flat per school per year. Publicly filed school-district quotes put per-student reading-quiz programs at $4–$8+ per student per year, so a 600-student school paying $8.50/student (~$5,100) saves about $4,100 a year — roughly 80%. The bigger the school, the bigger the gap, because PageUp’s price never grows with enrollment.

Will our AR book list work in PageUp?+

Almost certainly most of it — PageUp’s library spans hundreds of thousands of titles across K-8 classroom and library reading. If a book is missing, teachers and students request it right from their dashboard and the quiz is typically ready within days.

What happens to our reading levels and points history?+

PageUp shows a reading level per book and sizes points to book length and complexity, so goals translate naturally. Schools moving mid-tradition typically set fresh goals at switch time — most switch over a summer.
